I’m Laura, the owner and editor at Hummingbird Editing!

I'm a former teacher, which I did for 14 years. I live in Melbourne with my bestie, Patch, who is the best dog a girl could ask for. I love reading, travelling, winter, cups of tea, and wearing overalls.

Hummingbird Editing began early 2024, and I've had time to not only refine my skills and do more professional learning, but also my process and my approach. 

My goal is to make your publishing dreams come true, and while editing contributes to that, I also think gentle, honest, and solution-based feedback and building rapport with clients do too. As an editor, I prefer the collaborative approach—staying in contact during the edits, getting feedback from you, and fangirling about how great your manuscript is. I adapt my feedback style and communication levels to each client, and I learn their writing style and voice so I never impose on it. I will only ever try to enhance your voice and make your manuscript the best it can be. 

I will be your hype girl. I will help you in any way I can, whether it be finding you trustworthy Beta or ARC readers, helping you through moments of imposter syndrome, finding ways to help you improve your writing, or finding a critique partner or a sensitivity reader. 

I also like to keep busy! I do editing and blurb writing,  and am currently putting together an anthology series.
