Books are an important and essential part of the arts, of culture, and of our self-care. Books bring us joy and give us a sense of adventure, even when we're on our couches. With Hummingbird, my vision is to support authors in releasing more joy, love, and enjoyment into the world through books.
My approach to editing is simple - I'm here for you and your story. My goal is to help you make your manuscript the best it can be whilst maintaining your voice and writing style.
You are the only one who can write your story and I'm here to cheer you on and support you while you do!

I’m Laura, the owner and editor at Hummingbird Editing and Proofreading!
I'm (almost) a former teacher, which I did for 14 years. I live in Melbourne with my bestie, Patch, who is the best dog a girl could ask for.
I love reading. Like, it's actually a problem at this point. Or maybe I'm talking about my obsession with collecting special editions of books and having multiple copies. Either or. But truly, reading brings me so much joy and editing even more so.
I love travelling, starting new hobbies and never finishing them, musical theatre, rainbow icecream, dogs, spending time with my family and friends, exploring bookstores, and sleeping. Sleeping is amazing.
